I liked interracial couples before John Safran realised they were cool

I have always been an ardent fan of interracial couples (IRCs).  Premiering tonight is John Safran's new television series about "cross-cultural, interracial and interfaith love", called Race Relations.  It is high time someone showed the world how wonderful IRCs are (even if that someone is a pallid, lisping geek who tends to whine more than he speaks).

Seeing an IRC holding hands at the checkout of my local Woolworths makes me happy.  IRCs are symbols of hope; shining beacons pointing to a future world in which racism is nonexistent.  Chindian children will build sandcastles with Chinegro kids.  A Blacktino guy will sip beers with his Eurasian neighbour.

Being part of an IRC also has its personal advantages.

TC's LIST OF REASONS WHY NON-CAUCASION GIRLS SHOULD CONSIDER BEING PART OF AN IRC

1. Your partner will have an adventurous palate.  He will not flinch when you have to use the words "fermented" and "shrimp" while describing the noxious smells emanating from your mother's wok.

2. Your partner will demonstrate a thirst for continued learning.  It is a beautiful thing to see a white guy master a language where every syllable has 4 possible tones and each sentence, even "Hello dear, how was your day?", sounds like a violent torrent of abuse.

3. Things you spent your teenage years feeling embarrassed of, your partner will find adorable.  Upon seeing home video footage of you at age 10, made-up like a cast member from Priscilla Queen of the Desert, sporting two buns and doing a bamboo stick dance, he will pronounce you cute rather than run away screaming.

4. Your partner will be capable of producing extremely good looking offspring.  Refer to Halle Berry, Michaela Conlin, Jessica Alba and Barack Obama for prime examples of how attractive IRC children are.

If marrying you wouldn't negate the point of this post I would.

People don't realise they're being racist, they just consider it what they find attractive, and not the result of societal conditioning affecting them subconsciously.

Thanks for saying what many of us have been thinking.

Lend my genes to fill the world with Jessica Albas and Michaela Conlins? Yes, please! The thought of mini Jessica Albas doing a bamboo stick dance in buns fills me with happiness.
